On August 24, 2011, President of Teamsters Local 436 and Teamsters Joint Council No. 41, Gary M. Tiboni, held a press conference to oppose the privatization of the Ohio Turnpike.

Those in attendance were Congressman Tim Ryan; International Vice President Al Mixon; Political Coordinator for Joint Council No. 41, Nick "Sonny" Nardi; Senior Counsel for Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Marty Gelfand; former Ohio Turnpike Directors Gary Suhadolnik and George Distel; Executive Director of the Cleveland Building Trades, Loree Soggs; representatives from the Fraternal Order of Police, Teachers and Plumbers Unions as well as Ohio Turnpike Toll Collectors.
